The wedding that almost didn’t happen: Ainsley and Travis

Saturday I photographed the wedding of Ainsley and Travis in Mineral Point, Wisconsin.  It was a beautiful day, and minus a few raindrops, it was gorgeous!  The scenery was great, people were nice, and it was an all-around great time.  But it almost didn’t happen!

It’s not too often that a wedding falls through on the day it’s scheduled.  Yet for Ainsley and Travis, there was a bit of excitement on Saturday morning.  Travis had a severe reaction to a weed in their yard while he was mowing, and broke out in an intense rash.  That led to a visit to the emergency room, and pain killers.   He was joking that he actually told the doctor: “Doc, I’m getting married today!  Help me out here!”  :)

But in spite of all that, it has been one of my favorite weddings so far.  Travis and Ainsley were the winners of my free photography giveaway in February.  I chose them because they had so many great ideas for personalizing their wedding, and including many local elements that are completely unique to Mineral Point.  The bride got ready at Brewery Creek Inn and the reception was at The Royal Inn.  We took pictures around historic Mineral Point.  I couldn’t have asked for a prettier setting!

Anyway, here are some preview pictures of their wedding.  The rest will be posted on my website in the next couple weeks, after I finish editing them.  Enjoy!

Aubrey and Doug’s Wedding in Lancaster

Yesterday was the wedding of Aubrey and Doug in Lancaster, Wisconsin.  I was excited because my neighbor, Liz, was there to assist me.  It’s always nice to have a second person to help out with stuff.  We were a little worried about the weather because according to weather.com, it was supposed to start thunder storming at noon, with a chance of tornadoes.  Great, huh?  But we were lucky: the rain held out until we got to the reception hall!

Anyway, Aubrey and Doug got married at a cute church in Lancaster.  Aside from being very hot in the church, it was a nice ceremony.  They did a fun sand ceremony with their three children for a unity ceremony.  And I loved their colors: cafe au lait, cinnamon, and chocolate brown.  The reception was a blast, too.  The DJ was one of the best I’ve ever seen.  He was part of Lighthouse Productions from Dubuque.  He had a whole box full of fun stuff: goofy hats, hoola hoops, chicken dance and limbo props, light sticks, and more.  There were so many people out on the dance floor from the second the music started!

Aubrey, Doug, Adriana, Taya, and Connor: it was great seeing you again, and I had a blast taking pictures of you guys!  Congratulations on becoming a family!  And now for the good part… your pictures!

And lastly, Aubrey and Doug took advantage of one of the upgrades that I offer: the Photobooth.  We set it up at the corner of the reception, and guests came by to get their pictures taken as many times as they wanted.  Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from the Photobooth:
